Cranial Location
Meckel's Cave
Meckel's cave is a dural pouch on the petrous apex housing the trigeminal (Gasserian) ganglion and the origins of V1–V3. It is a common site for trigeminal schwannomas, meningiomas and epidermoids, presenting with facial numbness or pain.
It can be reached through anterior and middle-fossa interdural approaches or endoscopically, and is also the target of percutaneous procedures for trigeminal neuralgia.
